ladies Personal Take Safety with Their Own Hand

Sadly, we exist in a society beset with scattered sickos with no qualms about carrying out violent attacks upon women. Women's safety should be at the forefront in this sometimes-deranged society.
Officials think that nearly 450 women are raped or otherwise sexually assaulted every day in America. The numbers out of our colleges are even more disturbing. The Department of Justice says that one in five women at America's universities will be rape or assault victims.
Besides the potential of sexual crimes, women are far more often targets for mugging and strong-arm robbery. Lowlifes take advantage of the fact that women are in most cases weaker than men, and are less likely to put up a fight - making for an easy, successful robbery.
Federal and state governments have passed many stringent laws regarding violence against women, but as with all crime, just passing laws does not necessarily make anyone safer. Women have to be aware and have a far more proactive approach to safety and security. Safety for women requires some real physical training as well as diligent awareness and security procedures.
Physical confrontation is very foreign to most women, so receiving some sort of training in hand-to-hand defense and escaping an assailant's grasp is vital. The mixed martial arts craze has led many women into gyms to learn kickboxing, and gyms in big, metropolitan areas are beginning to train women in Greco-roman wrestling. Obviously, traditional forms of the martial arts such as karate or tae kwon do can offer a woman excellent self-defense techniques.
An added benefit of any wrestling or fight training is the strenuous workout that comes along with it. A couple minutes punching a heavy bag or grappling with a training opponent will work up a good sweat in most everyone. Fight training develops a body both muscularly and cardiovascularly. Additionally, most training of this sort seeks to add flexibility - which is great for easing joints and making recovery from workouts faster.
Of course, some women will not be able or willing to go through strenuous physical training. One thing a woman can do is learn to utilize some form of non-lethal weapon. Pepper spray has been around for decades but is still a reliable and effective mainstay in many a purse. Today, women's safety devices have gotten more high tech - and even more effective. Sales of stun guns have risen steadily over the years as prices have come down. There are hundreds of styles and colors, all with varying levels of power.
